Homeward bound!

Back to Canada!

Ahhhh, Canada! We have been back in our home and native land for 13 days so far, and with only 1 sleep to go before returning to Vancouver our stats are as follows:

- 349 days on the road
- 25 countries
- 178 nights spent somewhere different than the night before
- 35 additional nights spent on a bus or train
- 25 separate flights
- 350+ hours spent on busses and trains
- 20kg of acquired baggage
- 35 CDs full of pictures
- 2 tired bodies
- 1 unforgettable experience
and, get this, $15.54 still in the bank!

It all seems like so much, and yet travelling for so long has only made us realize how little we've seen. Connecting the dots on a map of the world is pretty humbling- although it does string together a line that circumnavigates the globe, it actually does more to remind us of the places we haven't seen, rather than the places we have. But, that just gives us more to dream about...

It's been a long time since we last wrote, and since the trip is essentially over we're not particularly inspired to recap where we've been. But, rest assured, we haven't slowed down- we finished our mainland Europe tour with a quick trip to Portugal, and then flew to London on August 2nd to attend a friend's wedding. From there we met up with Cam's parents and spent three weeks travelling with them through England, Wales, and Scotland. We also popped over to Ireland for a week on our own where we pushed our Citroen C4 to the limit as we circumnavigated the island, enjoying the incredible scenery and cursing the incredible rain. It ain't called the Emerald Isle for nothing... We returned to London for a last few days with our friends Jon and Hannah, who we met in Ecuador at the beginning of our trip. And then we flew to Paris. And then back to London. And then to Toronto. I think 25 hours to fly from London to Toronto has to be a record, and don't even ask why we had to fly via Paris. But, we made it and have since spent 2 weeks travelling a very tiny part of Ontario in my parents RV, and visiting our friends Steve and Krista in Toronto. Today we capped off the trip with a visit up the CN Tower, and tomorrow morning we head to the airport at 5am to fly home to Vancouver. Via Dallas. Again, don't ask.

So, this marks the end of our lives as Vagabonds. This year passed us by so fast, and it has really made us realize that time passes just the same whether you are doing something, or doing nothing, so best get on with it!

I don't expect there will be more additions to the blog, but we look forward to seeing everyone face to face and hearing about what your year has been like. Don't worry, we'll leave the 35 CDs of photos at home ;)

Thanks for tuning in,
Kristin and Cam
